Local logistics

How Westwood appointments work

Westwood is about ten minutes from the Culver City base, with appointments every day from 8 AM to 10 PM by schedule. The Wilshire corridor towers have concierge desks and visitor procedures, so send the building name and unit when you book and I check in like any other guest. Street parking in the Village is tight; a validated garage or a café table near the apartment works just as well.

The UCLA neighborhood brings its own paperwork: study-abroad and exchange forms, diplomas and transcripts headed for an apostille, consent letters, and documents for international students and visiting scholars who identify with a foreign passport, which California accepts.

Westwood coverage

A notary public for 90024, the Village and the Wilshire corridor

Westwood covers Westwood Village and the UCLA campus edge, the high-rise stretch of Wilshire Boulevard between Westwood Boulevard and the 405, the residential streets of Westwood Hills and Little Holmby, and Holmby Hills to the east. It is inside Zone 1 from Culver City, so mobile travel is included, and you pay the state-capped notarial fee plus any optional services.

Documents going abroad are common here. If yours needs an apostille after notarization, I can handle the whole errand; see the apostille page for how that works and what it costs.

Is there a travel fee in Westwood?

No. Westwood is inside Zone 1 (within ten miles of the 90034 base), so mobile travel is included. You pay the state-capped notarial-act fee plus any optional services you request; every fee is confirmed before the appointment.

Can an international student use a foreign passport as ID?

California accepts a current ID, or one issued within the past five years, from the list in Civil Code section 1185: a driver license or ID card from any US state, a US or foreign passport, a US military ID, a Canadian or Mexican driver license, or a consular identification card, among others. If a signer has none of these, credible identifying witnesses can sometimes be used. Tell me what the signer has when you book and I will say what works before I drive out.

Can you come to UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center or a nearby care facility?

Yes, when the facility permits visitors and the signer can participate. Bedside appointments have their own checklist; read the hospital appointment page before you book.

Do you notarize documents that are going to another country?

Yes. The notarization happens at your appointment, and if the destination country requires an apostille I take the document to the California Secretary of State and return it to you; see the apostille service. Tell me the country first, because non-Hague destinations use a different route.
